FREE VEHICLE INVENTORY CALCULATOR

Vehicle holding cost calculator

Estimate the additional cost of holding a vehicle for more days. Use the outstanding financed balance and your own daily cost assumptions, while keeping recorded costs to date separate.

No account or lender connection is required. Calculator inputs are not uploaded.

Fictional example loaded

These amounts and dates are invented to demonstrate the calculation. Replace them with your own records and assumptions.

Set your vehicle holding assumptions

Use the date for the financed balance and costs already recorded. The estimate covers additional days after this date.

Enter outstanding financed principal, not the vehicle purchase price or total inventory cost. Use 0 if no balance is financed. Maximum $100,000,000; up to 2 decimal places.

Use the annual rate you want to model, from 0% to 100%, with up to 4 decimal places. This is not a lender quote or APR calculation.

Enter 0 to 3,650 whole days. The balance and rate are assumed constant throughout.

Enter a daily allocation, or 0 if none applies. Maximum $100,000 per day; up to 2 decimal places.

Include the daily costs you want to model, such as an insurance allocation. Exclude financing and storage already entered. Maximum $100,000 per day.

Enter costs already recorded through the as of date. They remain separate from the future estimate. Use 0 only if your records show none. Maximum $100,000,000.

Additional holding cost estimate

Estimated additional cost for 30 days$414.66

For 30 additional days after 2026-10-11, ending 2026-11-10. This is a scenario estimate in CAD.

Estimated financing
$174.66
Estimated storage and other daily costs
$240.00
Recorded holding costs as of 2026-10-11Historical input, excluded from the additional estimate above
$475.00

Your calculation

Financing: $25,000.00 × (8.5 ÷ 100) × 30 ÷ 365 = $174.66

Daily costs: ($5.00 + $3.00) × 30 = $240.00

Additional estimate: $174.66 + $240.00 = $414.66

How the holding estimate works

Financing estimate = outstanding financed balance × (annual rate ÷ 100) × days ÷ 365

Daily cost estimate = (daily storage + other daily costs) × days

Additional holding estimate = financing estimate + daily cost estimate

The financing input is outstanding financed principal, not the purchase price or the vehicle’s total recorded inventory cost. For example, a fictional $30,000 vehicle with $20,000 financed uses $20,000 in the financing formula.

Assumptions and limits

This model uses simple interest, a fixed 365-day year, a constant financed balance and annual rate, and constant daily costs. It does not compound interest or model principal repayments, rate changes, lender fees, tax treatment, depreciation, market value changes or sale proceeds. Your financing agreement may calculate charges differently.

Financing is calculated at full precision, then rounded to the nearest cent, with half cents rounded up. Daily dollar inputs allow up to two decimal places. The annual percentage allows up to four. Missing, negative, nonfinite, out-of-range or overly precise inputs withhold the result.

Recorded costs are the historical amount you enter as of the selected date. They are displayed separately and are excluded from the additional estimate. This calculator does not verify those records or establish profit, inventory valuation, an APR, a lender quote or credit, accounting or tax advice.
